RISD sucks. The graduating class would always come through Weinberg glass studio where I worked as an artist with absolute zero training, and we’d give tours and short tutorials on certain processes. At the end we would answer questions, from students that we’re paying over 60k in tuition, to a school with a glass department built by Dale Chihuly and here I am with more working knowledge than they had. What a waste

I would expect a working artist would know more than a student. Yes? I mean, that’s why they toured your studio, to learn from you, right? What am I missing?

Right! And just because you graduated from a top school in any field doesn't mean you will kill it with your talentd right from the gate.

I find that coming out of college doesn't guarantee you have all of the practical knowledge of the field. In fact, you learn more working in the field than in college!

You can say the same thing about a lot of software engineers coming out of MIT.
