You have to watch the weather. March is still winter time there and travel maybe an issue.

We've gone in March the last two years and it's been great, but yes, it still can be cold.

I don’t think there is any science to support that. Winter in Pennsylvania ends at the end of March. How can winter be in 2 different states at the same time?

The Finger Lakes are close enough to Lake Ontario to be in the snow belt of the Great Lakes. You have the possibility of significant snow from November to March.

I’ve never lived in ny so I can’t say for sure, but I find it very hard to believe winter can be in 2 places at once

I grew up in the Finger Lakes region. It was not unusual to have measurable snow during trout season (which starts April 1).

So you are telling me two neighboring states have winter at the same time?

Southern PA and middle of NY State while next to each other differ by weeks when seasons change (not by calendar but temp). Just watch when peak leaf colors change in the fall.

Geography and proximity to water make the difference. The Great Lakes create weather patterns due to them being heat sinks and humidifiers. Air that passes over the lakes gets a lot more moisture in it than air passing 200 miles to the south and will dump that moisture (in the form of snow) over areas of NY state. The Finger Lakes are in that region that get "Lake Effect Snow". Buffalo NY got over 60 inches of snow in December 2022, Elmira NY (just 150 miles to the south) got 3.5 inches. So small geographic distances can have different weather patterns.

I was referring to winter weather. They can get snow in that region up to the middle of April.

In my part of the state it’s very common to get snow from October until May.
There is a solid 15-20 degree temperature difference often times from the Philadelphia area to the northern tier.
