No matter your political preference I think there's one thing we can all agree on. Can we all agree that the god damn yard signs are a blight? There's no need to have a dozen signs for the same candidate in a place where it's clearly not owned by the person who put it there. Can we just not for the next election? Like none at all.

It's so annoying. And they're almost all plastic, so you'll have some end up in rivers and lakes. And not to mention they're god damn annoying to see everywhere...

I don't even care what candidate. Stop plastering signs on every intersection please...

Yes, they were especially annoying this year it seems. I'm all for people putting signs out on their private property but I really hate seeing them littered all over the place on public property.

It should be a rule that the losing campaign has to take down their signs and the signs of their opponent.

I wish it were just signs during election years.. Republicans LOVE their corny ass merch. Flags, stickers, shirts, hatsā€¦ all tacky as hell.

22

IrrumaboMalum t1_ivnxxac wrote

I probably would. Stickers irritate the hell out of me most of the time, unless it is something really strange. Like the sticker someone made for the Toyota Highlanders that has one stick figure with a sword and a couple headless stick figures to the side.

What makes be cringe the most is political stickers, gun stickers and military vet stickers (especially Navy Chiefs who plaster their cars in goat locker stuff).

I got my Navy vet license plate and a Doom Ducky sticker on the inside of my window at the moment, and that is it.

The signs tell me who to avoid and distrust. Any Mastriano sign told me that person thinks the US should go back to the 1800s. Fuck them.

Like the Fetterman signs I saw destroyed and strewn across the road in berks county. Entirely unnecessary to destroy someone elseā€™s shit, then to throw plastic into the wind on top of it is mind numbing

Get ready to see the Mastriano signs fading in the sun for the next several years, next to the nearly-gray Trump signs.

Side note, who else still sees the trump signs with Mike Pence's name cut out or covered in duct tape?

This reminds me of when I was in school. While as a child and teenager, as I did not fully understand politics, laws, social programs etc, I complained to others saying that there are too many of these election signs in yards, along roads, etc and that they need to go. I would always see these election signs to and from school while riding school bus and would tell the bus drivers how much I couldn't stand seeing these signs. I would always sit in front of school bus talking to bus drivers to and from school and election signs were one of my many conversations with bus driver whenever it was election time. Even now with a much better understanding of social programs, laws, politics, etc.. I still feel as I did in school about too many election signs littering things up.

Sweet_Sprinkles_4744 t1_ivophc4 wrote

Assuming you voted Dem, why would you want to get along with neighbors who would vote for Mastriano? Different politics means different ways of dealing with inflation, social welfare programs, etc.

Anti-Semitism, White Nationalism, Homophobia etc. is not a difference of political opinion.

3

happyjazzycook t1_ivoq2vj wrote

Would be nice, but I can't see it happening. Also I'd love to get rid of the paper candidate handouts at the polling places. Hasn't almost everyone voting at that point made up their mind already? Doesn't giving them a card with all of a political party's candidates, or just for one politician, seem to be redundant? And it would be nice if, alternatively, a paper recycle bin is available. I worked at a polling place yesterday and was constantly picking up cards that people dropped, or watched them drop them into the trash bin on their way out.

Because we all get along outside of politics? That actually happens. Theyā€™re not bad people just because they have different viewpoints. People have the freedom to do so.

Edit: I honestly couldnā€™t imagine getting so upset that somebody I know voted one way and I end up saying, ā€œyou know what? Fuck that person. Not gonna talk to them anymoreā€. Seems a bit extreme.

I actually vote a completely different way than most of my family. We all still get along. Crazy concept to put politics aside and for people to get along with one another, I know.

Mastriano's positions aren't politics. It's hate speech. It's anti-democracy.

I don't understand getting along with someone who would vote for someone like Mastriano. Even if they don't agree with his bigotry, they endorse it by voting for him. I couldn't get along with someone who was ok with that. Same reason I cut out acquaintances who voted for Trump.

They're litter. Like actually. People put them out, then NEVER come take them down.

Now, if you put it on your property, fine, you put it there, you can take it down.

But along the highway, at every intersection, the middle of fucking nowhere.

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR TRASH THERE.

My boroughs changed the codes after the last presidential election. Now your only allowed two yard signs and only for a certain period before and immediately after the election (I canā€™t recall the exact time frame but itā€™s like 30 or 60 days). They hand out a daily $1000 fines for every sign over two that are up. Peopleā€™s heads exploded at first but then they slowly started removing signs. Itā€™s actually been really nice this cycle. I did notice the trump crowd trying to get around the yard sign rule by plastering the side of their hoses with huge signs but the new codes donā€™t address that just yet.

Holy shit same. He originally just taped Penceā€™s name out before taking it down and putting it up later with JFK Jr. written over top.

Back in 2020, he was in some local Republican committee and since my Parents were still registered Republican he badgered us to take a sign. When the sign was left next to our garage and never put up we caught him on our door cam taking the sign and putting it up in our yard without our permission. My parents ended up throwing out the sign.

Itā€™s just sad how Q has twisted these peopleā€™s brains.
