I think they accounted for your response with the “WHEN you are tapping in january, WILL that be a sign”

Depends where you live. It’s not truly over until you see buds on the twigs.

There is no "syrup season" any more because of the wild fluctuating winters - some commercial farms in Vermont tap in December (!!!)

Where did you get that tap system?

Hammond lumber sells taps and tubes like that, or at least they have in years past. It’s cheaper online from somewhere like Leader Evaporator.

I’m up in Lincoln. I knew I was a little early, but temps were right and the maples had buds showing. We won’t be too far behind ya.

My friend has tapped a bunch of trees and it’s not flowing yet, I think you made the cut!

Yea Mainers will be tapping in December in a few years. So sad I hate winter now. Just warm/moist/muddy and miserable. Mud season has already started and will run for many months

This reminds me. I got lazy and left my jugs up from last year. Bet that sap has some kick to it by now.

I did that once it gets wicked moldy lol.

I think I might have missed my chance to move the jugs while they were frozen. Maybe next year.

Funny to still hear some people talk about how they "don't believe in climate change". When you're tapping the trees in January, will that be a sign that times are changing?
