Conservative/light libertarian government wanted to ease the burden to the consumer, so they slashed subsidies and allowed China dumping prices instead of going to the EU to introduce tariffs. It all happened during a maturation stage of the technology where it would have been necessary to slowly lower subsidies so producers scale up production

I agree, however, it’s a matter of effective usage of taxes and balanced financial burdens, as well as longterm planning to invest in their own economy. If there was a big enough interest to invest in futureproof key technology, there would have been a possibility. I feel like it may have been a partisan maneuver.
