My buddy in Coventry just had two bucket trucks show up at 7 pm. He'll be up soon.
You can get updated estimates for your area on the app.Ours was just moved up to 930 pm from 630am tomorrow. We're currently in a room at the Casino.Comped.
Eversource is still telling us that its “to be determined”. There’s no update at all of when things will be resolved
I mean we had relatively high winds for our state and <5% are without power. That seems like it's not terrible?
Yes we left Essex to go to friends in Bloomfield Who had power and guess what…no power here!
Why are there so many Eversource apologists on this sub today?
yes, going on 15 hours.
same here and we're going on 15 hours. They're still evaluating. I can evaluate for them. There's a tree leaning on the wires. Cut it down and turn on the power. Minimal damage if any. Real simple. Probably take them an hour.
Just got power back on after an outage since 5am. In the Cheshire area. Eversource as well so kinda surprising lol
Because Eversource stock is up
I didn’t lose power but my internet went out around 3pm and Spectrum has no updates
Got power back in tolland around 6:30, but before that they couldn’t “locate my account” when I was trying to get an estimate.
We lost power in Waterford around 6:45 pm. Haven’t gotten back yet.
I'm in Enfield and we lost power about 5:30am and it came back about 1PM thank god!!
Because it’s common sense that restoration after a storm does take some amount of time?
Still evaluating here, too. There is a wire down. There has been an Eversource pickup truck parked next to the down wire for 11 hours. And that’s it.
Doesn’t seem super efficient to me but what do I know…
Lost power around 5am. Got a prediction for repair at around 5pm, and just before that time they sent a text saying power restored... power is still out and its back to evaluating. Someone dropped the ball there.
Been out since 6 with no update since.
It was nice to see though that 2 minutes in every direction is totally fine! /s
I'm in eastern CT. We lost power at 4:15 this afternoon. A small tree fell down on the road next to mine. The only updates I've gotten from Eversource have been that they're "assessing" - since 4:20. One truck came by one time and promptly left within 3 minutes of arriving. The tree is in the exact position it has been in since it fell.
The same thing happened to us. The web site kept claiming we were entering an incorrect username and/or password. 🙄🙄🙄
They’ve been down the road ‘working” for the last 9 hours and the restoration estimate has only gotten pushed farther back. Last hour alone it changed from 930 to 3 to noon tommorrow
The truck is almost certainly staffed by some bored HR manager who has been commandeered to guard the live wire so that some idiot doesn't step on it or drive over it before a crew can deenergize it. I used to work for an electric utility: Anyone capable of fogging a mirror could get pulled for downed-wire duty during a storm.
Evaluating = not your turn to come online yet. Going on 20 hours without power.
It’s be nice for all the money we pay and for the rate increase in 2 weeks if they’d be a little proactive, especially considering they dropped the ball the last time there was a storm. Lessons learned and all that.
I have power but no internet🤷🏻♂️
Still out - to be determined. I see the limb that has been hanging on the line since 4 am. They drove by didn’t have the right equipment and haven’t been back since. I hope we can get something done that will either break Eversource’s grasp on New England.
Never lost power here in north Stamford. Hoping you all get your power back on asap
Parents in Coventry got their power back on at 8:30 pm.
My parents are in Hampton. They're still out due to a tree fall at 7am.
Had a text saying power was restored around 730 this evening. That is false, so I had to resubmit a power outage, likely putting us to the back of the line.
Family & I are having a "camp out" by the wood stove, but pretty sure all the food we had prepped for the holiday weekend is going to be a total loss.
And I'm sure getting the $250 back for wasted food is like pulling teeth.
Tell me then, why is Eversource just about bottom of the barrel when it comes to restore times compared to utilities in other states with the same number of outages. Oh yeah, because shareholder profits don’t restore power.
Yep - still showing "To Be Determined" - how about you? Any update since posting?
just think about the savings you'll see on your next bill
Still out in Newtown. Lost it around 7:30pm.
Same thing happened here. Power went out at around 6:20 pm after I had seen trucks all day along 201. I thought they were shifting some circuits or buses for those houses to be restored, but that was just a pipe dream. So I reported around 7pm, then within half an hour I got a call stating all was resolved. I called again and made sure I spoke to an operator to make it clear my street was down. No ETA, of course. I hope by late morning, or we'll be packing to travel to my daughter's for Yule.
Put any food that needs to be refrigerated in bins and put it outside.
Exactly. I feel for this Redditor but right now the world is your refrigerator.
We're about to turn on a good portion of bantam and Morris
That's the best way I've heard it described
What do you mean "we"? Are you a lineman???
You didn't ask but, I'll share...We've been out of power since 4:15-ish p.m. We just keep getting the same canned text response. It says, "There is a known outage at (your address). Est restoration is under assessment. Treat downed wires as live and dangerous." Over and over. ☹️
Because maybe it will turn out to be better performance than Isaiah? Easy to please. I don’t apologize for them, I am fully committed to major overhaul of the electric market in CT
Other kinds of utility structures do better on all counts - price, outages, accountability - on the whole.
Over 24 hours without power in Newtown. Still no estimate when it will be back. On social they say to message them for an update, but they just keep recycling their same rehearsed customer service speech
Well, then...Thanks so much for working out there in the trenches during this brutal weather!
15+ hours of no power here, too. No power, no running water, no heat, no update/no info from Neversource. Merry Christmas. Sigh.
Same. They're still "evaluating" after 15 hours. The outage was caused by a small fallen tree that's leaning on wires. There are no downed wires. I can see it from my house. Since only 8 of us in the immediate area are out of power, we are not a priority. ☹️
Damn, all these trees and branches downing lines makes you wonder if going back to tree trimming and line maintenance might be the answer. Nah, better to pull linemen all around the country away from their families at the holidays and way through the nose for it!
Our freezers luckily stay cold for over 24hrs, but we tried putting our refrigerated items outside & things froze within an hour. Oh well, it was worth the shot!
Woodbury/Washington here. Been without power for over 24 hours. No sign it will be resolved any time soon.
probably popped a fuse. will be a quick restore once they get there and denergize & remove the tree.
Stay safe. We were lucky. Our condo complex has wires buried.
Right it's 5 degrees out. Use your brain....
If I lost power I would be fcked. All my heat is electric.
I have no power and that means no heat even though I don't have electric heat. The boiler for oil heat cannot run without electricity. So I am indeed fucked and have been since 4:15 p.m. yesterday. Fuck Eversource.
Lost it yesterday 530am - expected to be back by 215pm today. Nothing yet. Thankfully I have a wood stove for heat but I worry for my neighbors in town. Won’t be surprised if there’s a few deaths reported.
….but at least I can to look forward to even more expensive electricity next week. Yay monopolies!!
3:05 got power back. Xmas party can happen for me & mine. Hoping the rest get it back sooner than later.
2nd edit: Big thanks to the linemen getting us back up. Fuck your bosses - you guys are cool.
You guys are heroes. The suit wearing mucky mucks deserve all the wrath. Thankyou for being out in this weather trying to get people back in power.
Same. What if we said that about our bills. ‘There is a known non payment. Estimated payment is under assessment. Treat cold and angry customers as dangerous.’
My Cox internet has been out since yesterday morning. They send updates every few hours saying either "we don't know when it will be resolved" or "2:59" or "7:59" (some random number of hours in the future, always ":59").
Cox Cable is like democracy - the worst form of <connectivity> except for everyone else
Eastern ct no power since 530am yesterday. Still no power. Saw the linemen at the liquor store saying the were waiting for dispatch . This was at 10:30 this am.
33 hours and no end in sight! They actually came at 10am yesterday to remove the downed trees and wires. So it's been a lot of false hope
Wire guard
My friend just moved to CT and I had to lend him my generator. Cannot believe he is still without power
Update: still without power and eversource is still saying that they are "evaluating the outage"
merry christmas i guess
This isn’t eversources fault. There are power outages all over the northeast and finding enough electricians on Christmas weekend to do this work isn’t easy. They are mostly subcontractors working with eversource getting power on out there. I used to be a lineman and I don’t envy what those guys are going through with this weather right now.
You probably don’t understand the work involved, so instead of shitting on workers you can just be grateful for the people who’s power has already been restored :)
Nobody is shitting on workers. Everyone is justifiably shitting on a company that issues 891 million dollars in dividends, raises rates obscenely, and then routinely fails to keep the lights on.
Here in Colebrook our only update for our outage was that they were “evaluating the outage”… we thought we were screwed for days. Then surprise the power popped back on! It seems like the system isn’t up to date with the line workers (shocking). There is hope! Sending good vibes your way. Merry Christmas to you as well!
Parents in south ury still no power

Still out, originally predicted back at 9pm tonight but pushed back until noon tomorrow
