If it’s only been a year, you’re at the mercy of academy class size. They can only run so many people thru the process at once.

Test scores play a part in this. If you have an average score you’re not getting called before the perfect scores with veteran credits.

I’m guessing the fact that they both have zoned fares helps. A flat rate at the same ridership level will bring in less revenue.

We complain but a flat fare is such a good thing for commuters.

Did you have a token holder? Those made tokens easier to manage.

Buses could run more frequently. The schedule got cut drastically on many routes some years back and never recovered.

I was arguing with a stranger on the street on election night and this guy thought we were fighting and tried to break it up. We both told him “that’s how we talk” at the same time. NYC is a “we yell because we care” kind of town.

You can always leave the car. With a gangway, there’s no getting away from the crazy. It’ll just follow you.

And there are probably more underground utilities than there were in “cut and cover” days. There’d be no cost savings with the addition of massive road closures that are also a financial drain.

Because of all that work the 7 train was a beast of efficiency the last time I took it to my graduation.

They did send a message. They voted for Cuomo who ran out the best manager the MTA ever had. And Hochul is like him in the mirror-verse.

As a former Letter Carrier the worst bathrooms by far are small/medium-sized supermarkets. Not only are they located in the bowels of the Earth, but they may not have toilet tissue, despite selling it.

Seems like a lot of those accidents involved people peeing between cars. Now they’ll just pee inside the cars. That’s better I guess.

The Bronx is the home of Hip Hop which is integral to NYC culture. Many old school entertainers and comedians came from the Bronx. The Bronx holds its own even if people are pedestrian.

I’ve run into a few people over the years who curb their dog. These are good, thoughtful people and responsible dog owners. The vast majority will leave piss puddles right in the middle of the sidewalk and think nothing of it.

Every time there’s a budget crisis the first people they cut are Cleaners. Then there’s a rise in track fires and service gets messed up. They haven’t figured out that these things cascade. Keeping the stations clean should be a higher priority.

History should have taught you that no Black man was going to be able to tell the NYPD what to do. Especially not a cop who already alienated the NYPD by being a vocal critic while an officer. See police riot of 1992: https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2021/10/the-forgotten-city-hall-riot.html
