I used to live in the current building at that address. It’s student and employee housing for the hospital and Cornell medical school. It’s currently like 15 or so stories already (I think, we lived on the 13th fl) so, I don’t really understand what the uproar is all about. It’s not like there was a park or a historic low rise there currently. It’s already a big ugly building, they just want to make it bigger and uglier, probably.

With the amount that they claim they make, they could have chosen to move to any number of surrounding areas, and been well within the income requirements without lying. The sole fact that these two decided to lie so that they could specifically live inside New York City is the point of our whole discussion. You’re introducing other factors to try to make your case. We are talking specifically about these two individuals and the article that was written specifically about their case. That’s what I was referring to.

No, we all used paper straws. From the late 1880’s up till the mid 1960’s, paper straws were used almost exclusively. Somehow, they were totally acceptable and didn’t kill or maim massive amounts of people. Now, I am under zero illusions that plastic straws are the single most environmentally damaging use of plastic, by a long shot. Just that to say that they are the worst, or unusable, is laughably false.
