Reply to Dunkin budget vs. Electric bill by TarantinoFan23
Finally got my wife out of the dunk's habit....
We are about 35$ with my beans for my espresso and her's for the drip.
Electric bill is massive for reasons, our average daily usage is significantly down, but the price is almost double.

You should look at different rates if you apply to them on the CMP site: CMP Pricing
Depening on your usage you might be able to get a lower rate (From SEASONAL HEAT PUMP, ELECTRIC TECHNOLOGY RATE, LOAD MANAGEMENT SERVICE)

Short term, look for something online. There are some good resources here.
Longer term, see if you can get a PEL grant to get some College (I suggest the community colleges, they do offer online classes) this will help you out in the future.

If close, we have purchased our roof rakes from the OceanState JobLots.

What does your Wife do?
If she's someone that interfaces with the public, remote work isn't an option.
If she's behind a screen that has no physical needs to be in an office, remote will work, check with her current employer.

I would strongly recommend keeping non reformulated gas (No ethanol) for you chainsaw, and generator!

Reply to How Long Does Your Generator Run by Mayor_McCheese529
Gas Genny's need to be run almost monthly.
I suggest a full test, hook the the house and run the tank dry.
Then fill it with non ethanol gas, look here for this.
Keep in mind, there are times that even gas stations don't have power, it might make sense to keep 20+ gallons at the home for longer storage.

I use Robinsons mill in Oxford me, North end of Thompson lake. Although it costs a bunch, it's cheaper than an engine rebuild.

according to Japanese legends, you should never fill a well.
I put a small pump in our well and have it flow through a stone water feature in our garden.
We got boot grate to go on top of the well, 1/8" thick metal slats 1" apart in a grid. like fashion.

Saltwater is part of the problem.
The other part is marine life, from slicing fish to barnacles inhabiting everywhere. The maintenance to keep a turbine/mounting system clear would be huge.
