It's not pine. It's "plantation hardwood", aka rubberwood trees that no longer produce enough latex to keep them alive and so they're harvested for lumber.

The house I own now has a dryer vent run through the exterior wall, the remaining 2 ft runs along the baseboard, not within the interior wall. The prior home I owned was the same way.

The ship is the Edmund Fitzgerald, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" is a song about the ship by Gordon Lightfoot. "The Mighty Fitz" is a book about the loss of the ship, Edmund Fitzgerald.

Fels Naptha soap. I've had luck using it to remove old stains after having run an item through the washer and dryer a couple times before noticing the stain. It's cheap, it works, and one bar will last years.
