It’s weird the things you notice when you live amongst a slightly different culture. And bravo for seeing it yourself.

I just want to throttle some of the people in charge sometimes, or at companies… cos I can clearly see what they could do better as I know it already happens where I come from. But as in my job, I have to convince them it was their idea all along. It’s maddening.

America must think it’s their own idea or they won’t do things other parts of the world already know work.

The idea of “worlds best practices” and looking abroad just isn’t in them, culturally, sadly.

Guess why they “never saw a penny” then… tribal leadership.

You seem to want to do anything but blame the reality of the situation. There is no Afghanistan. There’s just a region, full of medieval backwater tribes unwilling to look further than those allegiances. They have no ideals to fight for. And decided by inaction and cowardice, to let the Taliban assert control.

They’re pretty good at deciding who they don’t want, historically.

They all ran away when the Taliban came calling, giving them the country.

People who want a country, fight for it. Afghanistan isn’t a country though, it’s a bunch of tribesmen with clan loyalties above any idea of a “nation”.

I’m sure the people of Afghanistan were being “oppressed” by evil America, with all that money spent, the womens rights they tried to instill. Foolish but can’t blame them for trying.

No one has time for a people who chose their fate after all the international community did to help them.

You see them only as victims.

Why is this even news? The people of Afghanistan chose their leaders & not to be part of a modern world, by just giving up and throwing away decades of assistance & trillions in investment in their military.

They are the new stereotype in cowardice for running away, instead of the French. They lasted 2 weeks, with all the modern weaponry the US could afford…

If you want to be a nation, you have to fight for it. They preferred this.

The only prerequisites that modern, less bigoted states have on immigrating is skill, familial connection and humanitarian need.

Not ethnicity, religion or race.

When you look at the nation without the marketed special status by the Israel lobby, the west would not support such bigoted ways by a country that ever deemed itself as part of their grouping.

Be a nation, not an enclave. Demographics are against it anyway, so make it an idea, not a racial identity.

Let me be clear. It’s not center right to say that having no border with the rest of the world as a sovereign nation is a good thing. That’s normal, standard international rules. You’ll find liberals like the international rules that allow nation states to exist. If you want “open borders” then make something like the EU. Freedom of movement is great, but there’s a lot more integration that comes before you simply “open the borders”.

I’m aware that there’s a constant creep to the right, in many things, but Jesus, preferring the thing that makes a nation actually sovereign ( protecting its borders and controlling who can come in and out and do business ) is how the world works. Far left twitter liberals aren’t the rest of the world. Or more importantly, the electorate. ( just as much as the fringe far right )

Yup. Only an insane fringe want “open borders” or will argue with you on “what they mean”… despite using that insane language. It’s just as bad as abolish the police entirely as a solution to policing issues. ( even if they don’t actually mean that, it’s an idiotic catch phrase that gives the far right ammunition against sane solutions for years. )

No sane person who understands economic and how the world actually works supports “open borders”.

The right wing like to tar anyone vaguely left with this completely extremist, fantasy view of “what the left wants”. It’s great for votes and outrage. Sometimes the far left fringe is their own worst enemy, with the stuff they come up with.

They’re entirely different to Israel anyway, with Israel being a nation of immigrants. The only immigrant based ethnostate in the world. At least the other nations you cite just exist there because the people via being there are “a nation of blood”. As xenophobic as they may be currently.

Only the West has nations based on ideas rather than “blood”. And Israel isn’t one of them. That needs to change.

Wrong answer. They all had Jewish roots. Now do “people” like every other compassionate nation on earth, where ethnicity ( having at least one grandparent of a race/ethnicity ) matters.

You realize people can have an issue with all forms of racism, and that includes Israel as an issue, just as much as those idiots who hate Jews for all their idiotic conspiracist garbage ideas.

Being ethically consistent is being honest.

Because, it’s a thing Israel make a point about, to validate their quest for an ethnostate. Any other nation on earth with such a stated goal would be considered racist or bigoted, to western eyes.

Size has nothing to do with if a nation is compassionate or not.

You actually think only “big” countries should take refugees? Sweden, Australia, NZ, places like that, put their money where their mouth is. Even modern Germany.

The US does indeed take many refugees. It does not have an ethnocentric “right of return”.
