I think this is great news, but I am very skeptical of attempts to predict the future based on "at current rates." Sure, at their current pace, my Washington Nationals would lose 162 games this year. They will lose a crazy number of games, but not that many.

Scale it up, folks! We'll all be better off reducing the amount of virgin lithium that needs to be mined, or at least have another practical source if we need more than can be mined.

Well that was useless. I suppose we will need to find more things for retirees to do, but ticket takers? I'm sure also that the increase in athletes comes as a relief for those who want to become pro superstars. The chances to become rich and famous just became so much greater.

Yes, sorry. That was the joke. I was saying that he finally got the hint to propose because she started wearing a wedding dress all the time. I was going to say the same thing about the meaning of betrothal but you had already done it. I was just being silly.

He meant betrothal, because this was the day his great grandfather to be finally picked up the hint.

This is potentially very exciting, but companies have also talked about producing cheap and sustainable aviation fuel from algae for at least 15 years. They talk about scaling up from "several tonnes" of algae 2 or 3 years from now. It seems a very long way from being a replacement for anything yet, let alone plastic.
We should all be desperate for this to work on a massive scale. Congratulations to the researchers who have made the first steps.

I'm very impressed. If you haven't, you should post to /Eatcheap and /Frugal. I think that you make a very good case through the data that there are real benefits for most of us to replace meat with plant products, even if not completely. It is a very good complement to those who try to make ethical or environmental appeals, and might be more effective for many who watch your video.

That choked me up a little. My little sister met John Denver through Make-A-Wish but neither made it very long. The beauty of these meetings is uplifting enough as it is, even when things end as expected. This story is a beautiful counterpoint for which I am very grateful.
