I still have a half meter of snow at my house so we're quite a way from anything green!

We're a couple months behind southern England in terms of seasons. If you're here in the beginning of May, most trees in the Meredith area won't be in full leaf yet.

Reply to Driving into killington on Saturday with this storm and thinking about driving (no 4x4 this time). Few options off of 95 and asking locals which roads would be better? A) I87->149->4? B) 7-4? C) I91->103->100->4 by [deleted]
Option A gives you way more places to bail if the roads are really bad.
87 also gets substantially more traffic, at least to exit 20 where you'll get off for 149, than the highways in VT so there should be better tracks even if the plows can't keep up with the snowfall.

Reply to Potential job offer around Sunapee. Any decent towns you would recommend around the area? by papa_waltz
If you are looking for a cute town to walk around, New London is the spot.
There is a large condo community on the north end of town that might be a good spot to look.
Feel free to message me with any specific questions. I live about 15 minutes from Sunapee and have spent time in all the surrounding towns.

We went last night and we had to wait in a line of maybe three cars. I think the key is going on a week night before school break.

There also doesn't seem to be much of the "keeping up with the Joneses" in rural New England, which ties back into the if it ain't broke attitude.

Reply to Moving from NYC to Dover NH by Aromatic-Common7204
Not sure how old your baby is, but the Children's Museum of NH is right in Dover.
I have met moms by walking up to them and commenting on how well our kids play together and we should have a play date.
I think people in New England do the small talk/chit chat thing more than NYCers so once you break the ice, it's easier.

Reply to I’m looking for a place that would feel like a “tropical getaway” during January for a girls day trip in either New Hampshire, MA or southern Maine. I’ve already considered an indoor water park but I’m curious and open to any suggestions! by [deleted]
The big indoor water park in NH is closed so the others in New England might be even more crowded than usual.
Maybe one of these?

Reply to moving to bethlehem? by sloppytoptennessee
Bethlehem is one of those places where you need to bring in nearly everything you need- there are some cafes, the most awesome ice cream ever, a brewery, and a gas station and that is pretty much it.
Littleton is about 15 minutes away, but it is one of those places with several cute little shops and only a Walmart and a Lowes if you need to buy, say, a microwave.
I guess one way to look at it is do you want to be someplace where you need to rely on a car or not?

We had a good experience there. We could still use the outdoor pool and hot tub in mid-fall. I don't think they had a full water circuit.

That place is amazing. We also like Bota Bota in Montreal, though not the same "jump-into-an-icy-river" experience.

I had a feeling that might be the case based on where one can typically find that apple. I'm glad you found some answers.

Not at all what you're asking, but if you hit up Americade/Laconia Bike Week, you can try stuff out at the vendors.
I ended up with a pair of boots I never would have looked at online since a vendor had a special offer on them.
