I find zero problem with a private company using data like that to determine where to open a location. It’s not racist to want to open a store where you are most likely to make profit. That’s just good business. I never understood people wanting corporations to be as you said the vanguard of equality. It’s strange that we will complain about corporations having too much power but then expect them to be the champions of our society.

Ohh do I.

Mentalist - amazing

Castle - great till the later seasons.

Lie to Me - got cancelled so only two seasons

Psych - watch this first if you haven’t

Bones - this one varies is quality greatly but has its moments

Person of Interest - turns away from being a procedural fairly early but it’s really good show nonetheless

Elementary - my personal favourite interpretation of Sherlock Holmes

Heavy caveat with all these shows is that they are of course formulaic but that’s the point. I think all these above shows are worth a watch to see if you like them, but definitely watch more than a couple episodes before deciding. Shows in this genre usually need a couple of episodes to hit their stride.

Also while not strictly a procedural, but in a similar case of the week type show, check out Fringe. It is quite possibly the best show ever made if you are fan of sci fi.

To be fair I think the asshole shtick was only a couple of shows like House, Sherlock and Elementary. I don’t know but I feel like being at least a little bit of an asshole is a requirement for that type of character because what kind of “know it all” isn’t a little assholish or irritating. Shawn from Psych, Jane from Mentalist, Monk or the dude from lie to me are all abrasive.

Though I would agree with that it would be nice if writers didn’t use that trait as a crutch for character development but as long as they give me some good mysteries and the main character is charismatic, I’ll watch this type of show till my dying breath.
