No sealant. I did know what you meant. It’s more a temp fitting not for long term use really. I was thinking cut the pipe below the floor and install a screw terminal/clean out. These pipes shouldn’t really just be capped poking up through or even flush with the floor that’s not great if they are.

All of it should’ve been cut off below the floor and below the traps in straight run areas of pipe and capped not with something like you’re describing but something much more rugged

IRC section 311.7.11 have a read through that.

Brad nails are a monstorous no in this construction. If it’s all of solid wood lean toward white oak or at the least Douglas fir. Through bolt the treads by extending them back to overlap the stringers OR create triangle wedges that are bolted to stringers then downward fasten treads through and plug holes.

There are other suggestions on cutting I’d recommend the table saw undercut and then Japanese hand saw or standard very sharp handsaw to finish. Cutting all this is the easy part the assembly is what will take a long time.

You really really need to not worry about this amount of variation. When you attach drywall just don’t suck the screws ultra tight at these points on the wall. Or do and mud the drywall it flush later. Depending on how you lay your sheet rock it’d would be quite tricky to shim this. Cutting and sistering the studs would be easier if you really are concerned

But do you have a flat soffit or a sloped soffit?? Sloped makes venting more complex and it’s completely untrue that you need soffit and roof vents for venting to work well.

Also it’s way way more complex to size all of this. Look in the IRC there is an entire code section on how to calc and what’s required Chapter 8

strongly recommend it goes against a gable end and not an eave side. leave a healthy gap so you can clean, 6” seems fairly tight. Crushed gravel beneath the deck as well as a vapor barrier under the gravel, be sure the grade all pitches away from the house. The storage space will be excellent!
