Reply to comment by bigmattson in [Rapoport] Sources: Raiders QB Derek Carr has informed the team he won’t accept a trade to the Saints or any other team. The team is expected to release him and he’ll be a top free agent. by BCLetsRide69
Yeah, seriously.
This is something I always wonder about with teams that aren’t already stacked going out and trading for a 1st or 2nd tier QB. That QB has to realize that between his cap hit and the assets his new team is giving up, they’re going to be limited in their ability to build the team around them. It’s one thing if you’re a Rodgers type that’s going to play another year or two and ride off into the sunset, because you don’t care about those draft picks nearly as much, but if you’re Carr, why would you choose to handcuff your new team even more?

I saw somewhere that based on the amount of votes and total dollars spent on this election, it averaged to $73 per voter.
They aren’t spending $73 per vote if your vote doesn’t matter.

Exactly. If the GOP wants to soften their pro life stance, it has to be a very slow and carefully planned transition with a huge internal marketing component. And even then, it’s going to be very dicey getting the evangelicals on board.
There’s just no way they can pull the bandaid off quickly without doing major damage to themselves.

Yes, you can, but hardcore prolifers don’t view it that way. And those are the ones that will view any softening on the issue by the GOP as a betrayal. And it’s not just the votes they’re concerned with, it’s the $$$ coming from the pro life contingent.

In the conservative sub, there are a lot of people questioning the GOP’s unwillingness to bend on this. What they’re failing to grasp is that their party’s identity is so tied to being pro life that any attempt to change course quickly would be shooting themselves in the foot or worse. Think about it. How are evangelicals going to react? Or even others within their base who have been indoctrinated into viewing any and all abortion has pure evil for decades? For every vote they get back because they’ve softened their stance, they’re probably losing two from hardcore ProLifers who feel betrayed.
They’re a damned if they do, damned if they don’t, and they’ve painted themselves into that corner.

You realize many kids begin puberty in elementary school, right?
That said, I’ll echo what others have already said. Nobody’s getting graphic “insert tab A into slot B” LGBTQ or any other type of sex ed in elementary school. This is just a boogeyman created by people like Mastriano use to rile up their base.

I’m more concerned about what he will do (to LGBTQ, to women, to education, to Social Security, Medicare, etc.) than what he’s said or done. Because Oz will do whatever his party tells him to do to keep his seat at the table.

This is one of those crimes that’s just mind boggling. You know that 99% of these people making death threats to politicians and judges have zero intent and likely close to zero aptitude to make good on the threats. And it also should be pretty obvious that making death threats towards politicians and judges carries heavy penalties and is going to be aggressively investigated. Yet these idiots are full steam ahead, damn the torpedos, straight into a double digit prison sentence.
And inevitably, their attorney will default to the usual “he never intended to act on these threats and simply exercised poor judgment, so he really doesn’t deserve to go to jail, now does he?”

The general idea is that when you see denouncements from people/groups that you’d expect to be friendly to a particular candidate, it generally says a lot about that candidate.
This isn’t just a couple of random professors from you’re average university, this is a war college. While I also suspect it trends more conservative than your average college, he’s also ex-military, so I think the average professor would probably prefer to sit this one out.

Call me crazy, but if I even had a shot at getting drafted, let alone was considered the best player available, I’m wrapping myself in bubble wrap and barricading myself in my house until the draft rolls around.
