Do you live near any bus routes? It might take a little longer but generally the buses start earlier. My husband and I took the bus to Union Station for an early Amtrak once.

This was my first thought. I grew up in SW MO, which has a super similar climate to DC/is in the same climate zone. We would almost never get Dec/Jan snow, and then a random snow storm or two on Feb/March.

This! I’m in my late 20s and moved to the DMV in 2016. I moved into DC proper in 2018, and was in Silver Spring and Bethesda before that. I’m a civilian fed, but not in the policy/poli sci space. Many of my friends moved here to work for the government but intend to stay here. I also have close friends and coworkers that are DMV natives that work for the government.
I think you’re spot on that it’s Hill/poli sci/public policy people that are transient. In my neighborhood (Michigan Park), there’s tons of retired/current career feds. Also lots of. DC government employees. Lots of DC natives up here. My neighbors have been in their house for like 40 years.

I’ve only ever had their takeout, but Sababa is also fantastic. It’s on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list.

If you’re okay with Israeli/general Middle Eastern instead of Lebanese, my husband is Iranian/Armenian and prefers Mama Ayesha’s to Lebanese Taverna.

I second Cava. If you’re willing to go up to $15ish I recommend Poke Papa, SeoulSpice, and Daikaya. Z Burger is also really good.

I really like the walk down Connecticut from Woodley Park to Dupont.
The Franciscan Monsatery Gardens in Brookland are pretty cool! You could probably do a pretty decent loop from the metro to the gardens and back.
The Metropolitan Branch Trail goes from Fort Totten to NoMa. You could do some/all of the trail.

Got it! Yeah I also think it’s a little funny. I thought Kingman Park was divided between Wards 6 and 7 until the most recent redraw. TIL.

I’m guessing OP lives in the part of Kingman Park/Barney Circle/Hill East that got added to Ward 7 in the most recent redrawing of the ward maps.
