I didn't. I know she's used "pretty hate machine" in "Caught a Lite Sneeze" and also "nine inch nails" in "Precious Things." I knew "Professional Widow" was about Courtney Love but didn't know NIN had also written a song called "Starfuckers" which solidifies why she used that lyric.

Are you supposed to tip at places where they just give you drinks like Starbucks? When they have a screen that lets you choose your tip on your $5 drink, I feel obligated but it seems weird given they usually just dispense something premade (at this boba place I just went to, etc.).

This is the answer, I think. Lana Del Rey's music doesn't sound like she's writing songs based on her life experiences. It sounds like she's writing songs as part of her gimmick of being an edgy cinematic character. Therefore it feels contrived and not an inner look at the singer/songwriter's inner psyche. It's why you can enjoy pop music but if it's just purchased songs from other songwriters (like a Britney Spears album), it feels hollow to listen to it too much.

When I was a kid, Jewel had a song called "Amen" and the end of the third verse (no bridge) is "Some are being beaten, some are being born, and some can't tell the difference anymore." It reminded me of how it felt being in high school where everyone enjoyed picking on me or complaining about me -- as I became more angsty, even non-bullies found me annoying and I just couldn't bring myself to be the well-liked person I was my entire youth. So I thought I was the only one who people couldn't stand and suddenly I felt like it was a universal feeling and not exclusive to me.

Didn't make it to the end to be an official post-screening comment but... I went to see "Cold Pursuit" shortly after its opening and some guy in one of the front rows was loudly eating and muttering throughout which was annoying. Then after the film's villain kisses another guy, he stands up and storms out, but stops to shout back to us "WORST. FILM. EVER." Which was fitting 'cause he looked like the Comic Book Guy.
