BC/Chestnut hill is the safest town in MA, Newton is 3rd.
I would not get a car, BC shuttle, uber, and the T is more than enough. parking is hard. And unless BC has changed it since i graduated, parking space is not guaranteed even if you paid for the parking permit.

that's crazy..... is the condo really old? (older places have bad insulation and windows). I live in a 2400sf condo my heat and electric is only 150 together and my temp is set at 70-71... condos are generally very insulating no? cause the hallways are heated..

insulation and newer windows really change things.

Issue is, I can offer you one year upfront and you can accept it and then 11 months later i can sue you and say you required me to pay you one year upfront and then refuse to leave or pay rent. Now i am gonna live in your house rent free until you can evict me, which will take at the minimum 6 months.

issue is that there is just so many people trying to rent that they can easily find renters

what they are afraid of is that once you lived past whatever amount you pay upfront you will stop paying rent and it will take them months to evict you.
