Most underwhelming meal lately... We ate at Q for the first time last night and found everything to be oversalted and otherwise bland, I was disappointed. Best part of my platter was Mac n Cheese. We have yet to find excellent bbq in this town despite trying several different places, sadly. Always open for more suggestions.

On a related note, does anyone know by Kuba Kuba Dos is temporarily closed and when they might reopen? I really wanted to try them with my mom for lunch today. Maybe we will go down to the original Kuba Kuba instead... Edit to add: ah, their website says there was a sewer pipe burst below their restaurant. Maybe we will give the Fan location a try then.

My husband has a membership and they have lots of cool things. I don't think they are specifically kid oriented or have a kids program but I can't imagine anyone there would have any issue with kids so long as they're an appropriate age and use the tools/equipment safely and with supervision. Also coming from another state, we found their monthly price to be super affordable and a great value.

If you're looking for suggestions for a second opinion, I just got 3 state inspections done at Leete Auto on Staples Mill by the train station. Jason was very straightforward and honest, if he saw something he thought might need attention on the vehicle he called right away and told us about it but in no way pressured us to get the work done there, and let me know promptly that it passed inspection. I heard him speaking candidly to other clients in the waiting room, and got the impression that he would be a straight talker and wasn't going to try and pull a fast one on me as a woman bringing a car in, etc. I'll go back to them if/when I need service. Just my 2c. Good luck!

Took my mom to Richmond Eye Associates yesterday and they used the newer test, not the puff of air. Would recommend. They got her in quickly, the front desk was very nice, optometrist was very thorough and explained things well, and as it turns out mom has cataracts so they're referring her to one of their ophthalmologists in house for surgery evaluation.
