I also don’t understand why people are so obsessed with how much my car cost. I don’t need personal finance advise from you. If u make more than 250k and wanted to drive a CRV I respect that, but keep in mind people value stuff differently and not everyone (with ok financial situation) wanted to drive super low cost cars. Same applies to choosing apartments, dining out and purchasing electronics etc, please don’t force people to have the same values as you.

If you really wanted to talk about cost, renting from enterprise is occasional stuff and also only costs 35/day with code. For a lot of the weekend trips and sports our friend group all have cars and usually share rides. And no I’m not gonna use Uber as often as u assume.

Thanks. Rental car reliability is my biggest concern. I've only dealt with local rental cars in Pittsburgh which were pretty reliable.

U completely missed the point of this post. The car made perfect sense back in CA since we use it every day. Doesn't matter if it is a 20 or a 70k car. If u really wanted to talk about how much I make and how much I should pay for a car, do it elsewhere. I'm not here to discuss that with you.

For Costco that what we plan to do as well, or maybe even switch to BJ's? idk lol

tbh if we don't have a car and needed asian groceries, we will probably switch to services like Weee, or stock up some asian stuff on occasional weekends trips with a rental car

Not really, I make 250k a year so I certainly can afford that. But with very low utilization in JC,10k a year doesn't make sense anymore, that's why I posted this.

Well, if I sell the car next December it’s gonna sell 8k less, that’s a hidden cost of owning a car isn’t it? But I agree with with what u said about leaving on weekends, that’s one of the reasons we chose JC,

Our life used to be in Fort Lee, Edison, Flushing and Pine brook. Now we rarely go to those places anymore…

We will use subway and light rail most of the time, and Uber if we really wanted to go somewhere without reasonable public transit access

Depreciation is the highest cost of owning a car, especially for an Audi bought with cash. I agree the convenience it provides is the biggest thing that I’m keeping this car for now
