Dr Frasier Crane on Cheers was supposed to around for just a few episodes as Diane's love interest.
He was so liked that his role was expanded leading to one of the best TV characters ever, who appeared as Dr. Frasier Crane on 3 different shows.
Many guest starts make shows better, and I don't think they ruin the TV at all.

I hate when shows split the seasons between 2 years.
Just call it a different season already.

Bob Odenkirk was almost Michael Scott on The Office. Him and Steve Carell were the last two actors considered, and Paul Rudd almost convinced Carrell to not audition and take the job.
In season 9 we did see the alternate universe, with Odenkirk running his own office, in pretty much the same way Michael Scott did.
Looking back, we got the perfect scenario, with Carrell and Micheal Scott, and not getting The Office job enabled Odenkirk to become our favorite Saul/Jimmy/Gene

While it's not my favorite show, Homeland S1 is one of the best seasons of any show period.
After that, show goes down in quality but Season 1 was incredible.

Black Sails.
Power through first 3 episodes despite them being a little slower, and you'll get to enjoy an incredible show with a very satisfying ending.
Great acting, great story, great characters.

Even season 1 is not bad, it's just a typical procedural with new case of the week in each episode.
I enjoyed season 1, liked season 2 a lot more, and found season 3-5 just incredible.

First 3 to 4 seasons were great, a real throwback to 80s with likeable characters and funny stories.
Everything now is completely over the top, and I have stopped watching except an occasional episode here and there to remind me that it's not the same show it used to be.

I like it better than Lost, and the ending is also very satisfactory.
BTW, Michel Emerson is absolutely incredible as Harold Finch in POI

It's only a true procedural during Season 1, and to a lesser extent Season 2.
Seasons 3-5 are just incredible, and while there is still a case of the week, most of them are directly related to a bigger plot.
It's by far my favorite network TV show ever, and it's not even close.

Reply to If you liked "This Is Sunderland" "Welcome to Wrexham" has a very similar feel, it's about the struggling Welsh football club that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought to try and turn around. by Chilis1
Sunderland till I die is very dark and depressing, but Welcome to Wrexham is mostly quite opposite.
I enjoyed both, but Wrexham is definitely more of a feel good story, cause at least people of Wrexham have something to look forward to now. I highly recommend both.

Season 5 is usually considered the worst, although at first some people dislike season 2, because of change of focus from the hood to the docks.
However, once you see the entire show, Season 2 is perfectly placed and and works amazing with the rest of the show.

Pilot is incredible, and the first 6 seasons are really good.
It has more comedy elements than normal legal dramas, but I actually preferred it to Good Wife and similar.
