One thing that blew my mind in the days before GPS is that a lot of towns in New England don’t have street signs that tell you what street you’re currently on, just the street you’re crossing.

Not that it matters anyway. I found out the hard way that Tremont street in Mission Hill doesn’t in fact lead you back to the back bay, it randomly hooks turns left at Roxbury Crossing with no signage.

Also, I’ve lived on 2 completely unconnected Tremont Streets in Boston.

Don’t get me started on south street in Roslindale

I had a cousin from Europe who lived with my family for a year in the US and on his list of things to do that year was get a drivers license because it was significantly easier and less expensive to get a license in the US and covert it over to his home country instead of passing the test there.

Our drivers education is a joke here and it’s one of the reasons our roads are so unsafe.

This is a tax on anyone that makes more than a million dollars a year which is exactly 0 of my family, probably a very small percentage of neighbor and perhaps 1 or 2 acquaintances based on their standard of living.

In short, progressive taxation is fair even at the state level.
