They always know what road/exit/position will cause maximum fuckage and it really annoys me. I’m all for first amendment rights but I hate when they are weaponized like this and used to harass other people. It doesn’t do your cause any good to piss a bunch of people off who are just trying to get somewhere on the only highway entrance.

No. I’ve had construction next to my place for the past month and it’s supposed to last another month. Kinda just stuck.

They are very pretty trees in full bloom but I agree; overhyped and not worth getting stuck in crowds to see.

I saw them doing this on 395 the other day. Literally almost blocked the merging ramp. Why do people think they can just do whatever the fuck they want?

Reply to Alamo Drafthouse Bryant St by GrossePointeJayhawk
Yeah I noticed the same thing. I lived in Dallas for a few years and the established Alamo there was always consistently good. When the one on Bryant street opened it seemed just like the ones in Texas and I was happy how consistent the quality of the franchise was. Drinks came before the movie started, waiters were attentive, etc. Just about the same experience.
Then about a month ago I noticed it went downhill fast. My beer took about 45 mins to get to my seat and the food about an hour. I didn’t even bother ordering anything else. Towards the end of the movie I was expecting them to start handing out checks but none came. It was only once the CREDITS started rolling that they came around and since the theater was full it took a while. And even then my check, and a few other people’s, didn’t even arrive. One guy even received someone else’s check. It may seem like a small inconvenience but it’s annoying to wait in an empty theater for a bill when it should have been handed out much earlier. The waitress apologized and said she was training, which is understandable, but the weird thing was that she wasn’t shadowing anyone. Looks like they just threw her out there to figure it out.
Overall it seemed like this location started strong and then just gave up trying to run the theater well. It’s a shame because I like the concept of Alamo but I don’t want to wait long periods for service.

It’s always interesting when there are like two days of gloom or two days of a chill and people start saying things like “It’s always gloomy ans cold here!!”
This area is one of the sunniest and warmest I’ve lived in, even during the winter. As for the people, maybe you’re just around the wrong crowd. Most people seem to be relatively happy here.

I thought about going but A) it’s pretty expensive and B) Philly fans. Going to a place like that as a Niners fan, especially if we win, would be a death sentence. Just gonna watch it from the comfort of a neutral bar or my place.
But to answer your question; the train is pretty easy and you won’t worry about parking.

I’ve arrived at union station around this time and later. Some homeless people accost travelers immediately as they leave the building, one woman got in my face and called me a bitch. But it’s overall fine. Just don’t make eye contact and keep walking.
Best bet is to take a taxi as there are usually a bunch waiting and the Uber area is backed up/expensive. I wish they would station a police officer in this area to act as a buffer. But still, I don’t really consider this area dangerous. There are usually plenty of people outside waiting.

Walking around the mall at night and going to the Christmas tree in front of the Capitol is fun! You can learn about where the tree is from and who decorated it

Unfortunately you’re not gonna get sympathy on this sub because it’s overwhelmingly anti-car. I think outdoor seating is nice during the summer but I agree the parking situation sucks now. A lot of places don’t need the extra space anymore since covid restrictions have been lifted, in fact most of the outdoor spaces are completely empty during the winter, but that doesn’t mean people will support removing them due to some weird attitude of “fuck cars and drivers”.
I think there’s a balance where we can have areas that are relatively car free but also not punish drivers for wanting to use their vehicle.

DC Barber and Spa near the Capitol. Very reasonably priced (~$30) and they do a great job. I’ve been going there about 2 years now and haven’t ever had any issues. Hardly any wait times and they really know how to cut hair. Also, since it’s a barbershop, they include a straight shave on back of your neck and hot towel. Can’t recommend them enough.

911 is appalling here. I called them last Sunday because a woman smoked something and was trying to get into my apartment. They didn’t send anyone and after 40 mins I called again but the line was “busy” for about 10. So I waited and asked where the police were. They said they would still be sending them. It took 2 HOURS before the police finally called me and said “do we need to come over still?” At that point the lady had left. So fucking ridiculous that someone trying to enter your house isn’t cause for more concern from dispatchers.
