A hard reset interrupts the processes that are running and restarts the device to the same state. It will not resolve this issue. Powering the device off entirely will purge temporary files and possibly resolve a software related issue.

The display assembly has multiple layers, so your OLED could be fucked but still responsive to touch. Replacing the display assembly is still the official repair option, assuming the problem isn’t on the logic board (i.e. extensive liquid damage).

Their mistake is thinking pool/jacuzzi water isn’t a significantly more corrosive solution than actual pure water.
