If you go later in the evening, you’ll wait for significantly less. This sucks for anyone who’s not a late night person, but we had luck getting in Friday night around 10:30 with 7 of us. We only waited like 10-15 min.

Also, they’re not really overpriced compared to normal Jasper drinks or an equivalent place.

I’m definitely more of a sports in person kinda guy. I can’t really pay attention when I’m watching them on tv, never have. 😅

Trying very hard to push through the post-thanksgiving/oh-god-it’s-really-the-holiday-season-now slump. Hoping decorating will help pull me out of it a bit. This season is rough.

Have you looked at Joes? The booths there might give you some extra privacy. Or maybe Quirk? Lemaire?

Edit: was thinking of places that don’t get super busy and have more of an open environment. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Stellas grocery is also open til 8 or 9 pretty much every night except Sunday

I used to work in bakery retail during the holidays - making those end caps is also annoying for the staff bc then we’d get a million questions or complaints 😅best bet is to politely ask someone working, so much faster than wandering around trying to find where they were told to put it

As someone who’s spent almost every holiday season alone for the last 5+ years, the best advice I have for you is to treat it like a self-care day. Make or get your favorite food, take a long bath, get outside for a bit. I know everyone always says “there are other fish in the sea” or whatever, but let yourself take the time to process and move on. It’s okay that you’re upset. Just don’t let yourself wallow too long - there are cool people out there! I hope you start feeling better soon 💜

I’ve been in this position before. Did they hire the new guy on because they want to put you on something else? The only thing that’s ever helped me is having a frank convo with my lead to try to convince them to assign the new person to something else. Good luck, I don’t envy your position atm

I do a Friendsgiving before the holiday, then usually spend the holiday hiking in the morning with the dogs and treating it like any other day I have off. Very chill.

I’m making this Fall-spiced blistered shishitos recipe for one of our Friendsgiving sides tomorrow. Very excited to try it out 🤤

Also! For anyone who needs a vegetarian friendly recipe, my great grandmother used to make these walnut patties and they’re always a hit:

  • 4 eggs

  • 8 oz cream cheese

  • 1/2 yellow onion, grated

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (or pecans!)

  • 1 cup bread crumbs

  • sage, garlic, salt and pepper to taste

  • mix it all together and form small (2-3” across) patties. Fry with oil & butter. I usually bake them in a 8x12 smothered in a mushroom gravy.
