A lot of states were first founded by religious people. So it probably has to do with it being blue laws.

Even after stopping an active shooter, you'll have to worry about a trigger happy cop. Remember what happened at that club where the security guard restrained the shooter and was shot by the police even with ppl telling the police not to shoot because that was the security guard. We need to stop hiring Keystone cops.

A lot of countries do that. Australia does it to the US and the US does it to some countries like Taiwan if I'm not mistaking.
