It's always interesting seeing how obtuse the reddit crowd can be. "How can we twist and misunderstand the quote so that we can mock it and feel superior today?" I swear, some of these people are so blinded by contrariness that they'd be lucky to make a peanut butter jelly sandwich before giving up.

This implies kindness and truth are mutually exclusive. They are not. You can kindly tell someone they're wrong, you can kindly tell someone they need to take better care of themselves, you can kindly tell someone that the law of gravity doesn't care if they think they can fly.
