I went 13 years ago with a cheap point and click camera so it's lovely seeing it pop up occasionally with much better cameras. Recognised this shot instantly.

Depends where you go yes but I wasn't talking about dress codes. I know one friend who was severely hassled in some places and 2 who were actually assaulted and were lucky to not be injured by a crowd of armed men whilst hiking the Jordan trail. They cancelled the rest of the hike and came home and had to go for therapy.
I actually met my last gf there, who was solo travelling as well but I'm not going to suggest guys have the same experience or safety concerns as women there. I love the place and I've travelled all over the wider area but I'm not blind.
It's not India/Pakistan or Egypt levels but it's still something to be aware of.

A wonderful country to visit (although easier as a guy given the culture). I've driven this road and greatly enjoyed it. One of my favourite experiences.
Kerak castle is fun to explore as well

If we wanted to make a statement rebuilding something like this, or create some kind of public works program, places like Rievaulx or lindisfarne would get my vote.
I'd rather Whitbys stayed ruined as it is. Much more on theme I feel.

That sounds like a win for the UK.

Why would we? You'd ruin it.

This isn't about the awarding of the WC to Qatar though?

Yeah probably. We use it widely for all sizes up to a small lake, probably less specific use than the Norwegians.

Yeah that does, thanks. I was just curious as the north of the UK uses the word 'Tarn' (sometimes with a name beforehand) for them and I would have assumed it was related to a Norse word.

Norwegians, what do you call those small ponds situated on mountains? (The one in the foreground here)

It's definitely worth a decade of saying "yeah I've been to Peru....no I haven't been on the Inca trail" lol
