Its come up for auction before, and obviously wasnt important enough to be their heritage then.. sorry but this just feels like the family being fussy to stay relevant here.

Self driving will be a wonderful thing one day, but when it has the potential to break laws by ignoring the rules of certain areas of roadway, and to plow straight on into a stalled out or stopped vehicle like theres nothing there, i think ill hold off on it just a little longer and keep my personal judgement capabilities. Humans arent perfect drivers, i dont expect AI to be either. But id rather prefer not having to babysit the entire time simply because it can have a tendency to suicide rush a fire truck or go straight from a turn only lane.

Unless you have a source, all articles i can find point to it not being said one way or the other currently

Likely so, but in cases of mistakes like this, if the self driving was in use, i have to go with human drivers simply for the ability to make sense and at least attempt to navigate/slowdown/stop in response as needed. The AI seems in the beginning stage of development where it says “hmm, that looks like road so full speed ahead”, which most people, assuming they aren’t distracted, or under the influence of some substance will see flashing lights and a big object blocking the road and try to navigate around the firetruck, not plow through it like their in some action film. Some day im sure self driving will get there, but we are a LONG way off

Thus is the problem with AI driving. It knows the rules, it knows how to respond to things that are following the rules, however, it struggles to compensate for when something goes against what it considers to be the rules. That requires on the spot thinking which we still seemingly have a ways to go before being able to replace humans for.

So true. And to clarify, i understood what you meant, just threw in a personal lament over how bad things are when a still bad but less bad choice is actually a sign of hope for the future

In a day and age where things are getting worse by the minute, even less bad is an optimal choice over the status quo.

Not a proponent of spanking or anything of the sort, just telling an experience here. Came from a household with two parents, who both had conflicting views on discipline. My father came from a family where spanking/beating with a belt was the gold standard. No time outs, no warnings, nothing. My mother from a family where spanking/switch was for an absolute last resort, where you did something so bad that time outs or grounding wouldn’t cut it. Now in current times, my father is a man with much more… aggressive.. views on how one should respond to things such as crimes, and is also quite emotionally stunted. My mother is a measured, reasonable, compassionate person. Spanking isn’t something id ever say is “good”, but a lot of the times where you hear about kids having marks or injuries from it, thats from a parent that violates two rules. Never make it the first choice, and never discipline when you’re angry. (Side note, the few times we ever were spanked, my mother made sure she did it. Father worked in a trade and he had the strength to prove it)

Guess i do tend to forget, when the big cash cow stories dry up, the media fights for whatever tidbits of shock factor they can, still, feels likes the past few years somethings been changing. Either we are getting more careless with our firearm safety, or we are getting worse at dealing with issues people have… hell maybe its both.

Only asking this out of curiosity, but when you say it made you feel amazing, are we talking the healthy and stable kind or the euphoric kind that mania can sometimes induce? The article talked about that being a possible adverse effect so would love the input

Defining helpful with a disorder like that is what im curious about. HOW does it improve it? Does it deal with the mania? The depression? Just a general improvement? So many questions to be had and so little info given.

For a disorder that can have all sorts of effects on behavior and mental state, an online format self reporting method seems sketchy. I know you have to start somewhere but i think the jury is gonna have to be out a little longer on this one

They are trying to leverage a position of government as a means to regain something that seemingly, whether they like it or not, ended up for auction legitimately. Ill never be okay with a government official using their position for personal means, especially when the circumstances lean to this being a case where they have no right to do so.
