At this point I would skip the quick and painful section and jump straight ahead to the dying part.

Not as actual combatants. Women were not allowed to be frontline fighters until 1993 when females were allowed to pilot combat missions.
Here is a link that goes deeper into it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_Exclusion_Polic

My kids like to go to Wichita to the zoo and science center.
I grew up in the SE corner in a small town called Mulberry. It was a nice place to grow up back in the 70's and 80's.

As someone who grew up in Kansas I can concur...

I think the only one I recognize is Left Behind. Had a religious kid in one of my classes read the books if it is the same thing.

Reply to You only need to experience food poisonings once to be careful of what you'll eat for the rest of your life by Holiday_Chemistry_72
I had food poisoning once, and it almost killed me. I lived alone, and one of my friends had not been able to get ahold of me for a few days, so he became concerned. Came to my house and knew I was home because lights were on and he could hear my phone ringing. He looked through my kitchen window and saw me lying on the floor covered in my own filth. Kicked in my door and found me barely alive. Spent the next two weeks in the hospital recovering. The medical staff said it was the worst case of food poisoning they had ever seen and that I was only a few hours away from being dead.
