It’s literally ranked the second poorest city in the country. Reading is like the worst parts of Philadelphia took over 80 percent of the city. It’s completely different.

Yeah I know I’m going to get downvoted, but I’m just being honest. It’s a little bit sketchy everywhere. The city has some beautiful architecture though. There’s plenty of awesome art deco buildings. There’s even good food. The whole place just has a backdrop of crime, poverty, and desperation that is kind of hard to reconcile with while you’re there.

Honestly most of Reading is a pretty scary place. I worked there for a couple months and 2/10 do not recommend. Also, I’m not the afraid of cities type. I’m in Philadelphia all the time and it’s not nearly as sketchy for the most part.

Yeah it’s ridiculous. I’m all for welfare for people who need it, but we can’t have an economy that’s creating people that need it for the benefit of corporations. It’s suicide.

Thats the same thing with rent control. What happens when half of a landlord’s building is half occupied by geriatrics paying 300 a month? The other half of the apartments goes up exponentially. Welcome to NYC the most affordable place on the planet.

The truth of this is heartbreaking in the private sector and public sector. Hey let’s give a tax subsidy for this warehouse to creat jobs! Wait….those jobs don’t pay a living wage. Okay we’ll just provide welfare. So now we have a corporation paying no taxes and all of their employees draining the coffers at the same time. That’s totally gonna boost the economy and definitely won’t raise taxes on the average citizen!

The university I graduated from constantly asks for alumni donations and cries broke while building new gyms and workout facilities. I can’t have sympathy for businesses that constantly ask for handouts to mitigate their own mismanagement.
