Ok, so it looks like they should be normal tapioca pearls. So you can try a stove boil and strain, then rinse in cold water to stop the cooking and get some of the starch off. Try adding about half as much milk tea powder to either warm milk, or a mix of fresh brewed tea and milk. That'll probably help significantly.

Ok, so if the pearls are hard, you can boil them on the stove to make them chewy instead of microwaving. Basically you dump them in boiling water and then when they float instead of sinking they're almost ready. What's the kit?
