Does anyone think this is actually related to emerging AI that can make work more "efficient", requiring fewer humans? It seems likely with all the tech layoffs...but this is never a talking point in media.

Veterinary clinics seem understaffed; a support job could be a great way to get related experience and address the spay/neuter crisis.

Beacon rock is great short hike,, and 14 is a beautiful drive. Cape Horn is a great hike too along that road...you could drive up and the cross bridge back to Oregon and check out Multnomah falls area.

Alot of helpful comments in this thread! Consider following them. I wish you well and I am impressed you have found a safe and positive way to manage your depression! Keep going. I think the biggest danger is slipping and get hit with a branch or brambles in the eye so just focus as you are hiking, and opt for caution. If you have glasses that helps.

Please don't trample the wildflowers. There is a very short growing season on thin soils and trampling causes long term damage that takes a long time for the meadows to recover.

Running away from your problems won't solve the underlying reasons you have to start anew, similar mistakes will likely be made again. Suggest sorting out and coming up with more concrete game plan than relying on complete strangers in a reddit feed.

Thanks, I didn't know that Indian heaven was volcanoes! It's a steep hike up to the plateau and then its fairly flat. A very cool natural area with many lakes and ponds.
