Most of the good metal/punk/hardcore shows are in Baltimore but every now and then 9:30 Club and Fillmore in Silver Spring will have good bands in those genres.

Yeah I find that even the people I encounter in the city who are doing grimy shit are still pretty damn friendly.

I know it’s all relative, but I find that there are a lot of really nice neighborhoods in Baltimore that certainly won’t break the bank.

There was one in Columbia Maryland at the mall that I would hit up somewhat regularly when I was working out that way. I freaking loved their food.

That is probably more in line with the concept of apathy. But there are lots of people out there spending money on luxury cars that they also just simply cannot afford. You can also get a nice deal on a luxury brand car that has been totaled in an accident.

Many unsavory behaviors can be linked back to poverty. Why would you give a fuck about anybody else when worrying about yourself is stressful enough?

Plus, everyone else is doing it so why shouldn’t I? Clearly no one gives a shit. This is the apathy part.

I don’t agree with this mentality at all, but this is my opinion on why people behave this way.

You’ll be hard pressed to find too many detached homes (come to think of it, I don’t know if I’ve ever actually seen a detached home in Mount Vernon) in that neighborhood. It’s a very dense urban neighborhood. It’s “very city”.

My comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but I also don’t really give a shit about a business that is sneakily passing the buck of paying their employees properly to the consumer.

Call Red Light and place phone order. Order pizzas for pickup with expectation that you will pay at pickup. Don’t pickup said pizzas. Ownership is stuck feeling like jackasses and the hourly staff, who have zero control over shitty ownership, hopefully gets to enjoy eating the “dead food”.

The dude who owns Royal Taj is one the coolest, nicest guys in the area.

Baltimore feels like a much larger Richmond to me in many ways. Gritty and hip. We have some legendary pro sports teams here unlike Richmond. I like Richmond but Baltimore feels much more memorable to me and definitely less insular.
