Trying to figure this one out too. Mike's a great guy and the best brewery in Stamford and one of the best in Fairfield County. Hopefully he's able to reopen soon. He recently bought the food truck for Smash burgers and you can still find OJ on Parole on tap in a few area spots (Blind Rhino in Black Rock) so hoping he just closed the tap room for the Winter and will announce something soon. Last great beer was the Calm Like a Bomb aged in Bourbon Barrels and the Lock O Lantern pumpkin Barrell aged too.

Would recommend if they re in North Stamford at that budget you go for The Inn At Pound Ridge : https://www.theinnatpoundridge.com/menus/dinner or if you choose to spend a little less try North Star also in Pound Ridge: https://www.northstarny.com/ both are far better than any Stamford spots with the exception of Cafe Silvium. If you prefer a very high end spot go with Valbela in Riverside CT https://www.valbellagreenwich.com/

Yes, Bay pointe is very nice with great amenities. You have the boardwalk which runs into the beach park by Soundwaters. That is being renovated but the park and area are relatively safe. There's also the seasonal water taxi across to the Harbor that's very helpful for living there. You can drive into Old Greenwich which is a walkable area with restaurants and shops adjacent to the OG Train Staion there's a Kings market. A little more $$$ but a good alternative for nominal items....

Yes. Stamford has a small one in Veterans Park and there are a few others scattered around but it's out of season. There are many in the region year round the best of breed is TaSH in Tarrytown. http://tashfarmersmarket.org/ or for local to Stamford hit Sophia Market on Hope Street in Springdale.

Since Black Bear (Hula Hanks), this place has been a multitude of failures in this spot. Hope something survives as it's so unclear why this location can't attract any restaurant with longevity to Columbus Park. The city has to make this more pedestrian friendly but it's a bus route so it will never be car free but it should. Same issue with the Japanese Hibachi spot that has been vacant across the street between Riviera Maya and Noches de Colombia.

The latest downtown fatalities were Betto Sushi which lasted less than 6 months next door to Liberty Tax on the other corner and Tamarindo Latin American on Atlantic Street at Landmark Square.

I live at the Classic on Forest Street. Decent for what it is but no more shuttle to the train. Personally from what you are saying about the train check out the Smyth which is being finished now. While I am sure the apartments are renting for a premium once that building and the adjacent buidling with Life Fitness are finsihed, they along with Atlantic Station will be best for commuters and really never heard much negativley on 75 Tresser Street which has a nice gym and great common areas and courtyard type pool.

The Smyth looks like it was built really well with a lot of attention to detail by Lennar Homes (newer developer to stamford virtually every other building was either FD Rich, Mario Capelli or RMS Construction. Tons of amenities not sure if they will eventualy get the retail fillled but we are in desperaton mode for a walkable supermarket. Maybe, just maybe the space in the retail for the Smyth becomes a food market. Fresh Market? That would be great.

Barcelona can get pricey but try the location in Norwalk CT way nicer than the Stamford location and even nicer Spring and Summertime at the Barcelona in Fairfield off the Meritt at the Hi Ho Hotel iis a great spot.

Stamford has stayed fairly safe the past few years with the exception of certain streets on the East Side (Route 1 east of Mill River Park) and West Side (across from McDonalds Exit 9). Crimes in Stamford appears to be as others have said angry drivers and angry drunks leaving the bars on Bedford doing stupid shit, etc.

Nights during Spring, Summer and Fall are relatively safe in the Stamford, Greenwich, Darien area and there's often people out and about downtown, at Cove Island, HarborPoint, etc. Glenbrook at night?? Are you planning to hang at Donut Delight or the 24 hour laundromat? You should be fine but being vigilant about your surroundings at anytime is always a smart call.

Like taco project as they pour a darn good margarita with a nice selection of tequilas and while delicious those taco prices are a little steep but the adage you get what you pay for rings true. Stamford has some great choices but if you get a chance when it gets warmer do the drive to New Haven for Food Truck Paradise on Long Wharf. Its worthy of the drive.

El Charrito which used to be on East Main is on the food court at Stamford Town Center has the best Al Pastor and Carnitas in Stamford including tacos, sopes, tostadas and nachos and you can get delivery via Grub Hub and Uber Eats. No one has a better hot sauce in Fairfield county than El Charrito. It will burn your face off so ask for the mild too and mix them for a great smooth spicy salsa. Her ex runs El Chilto which has the taco truck at Jackie Robinson Park and the location on Apache Drive behind Mobil Gas in Riverside CT off Exit 5 with literally the same menu and just as good.

Agreed that Casa Villa is very good too. Jefe across from Auto Zone is good too. Another uncovered gem is Tamarindo on Atlantic Street for tacos (more guatamalean style but really good).

And finally there is a taco truck called El Jalapeno that parks by the playground at Mill River Park that does exceptional tacos, burritos and gives back by not listing prices on her menu charges those that can't afford it less than those of us that can. Ask for a roasted Jalapeno with your order if you are game.
