I got it to try to generate an image. It only worked on “creative” mode. All other modes said it can’t do it. However, 20 minutes have passed and I’m still waiting on my image. It shows a progress bar that just starts over when it is done.

Will certainly allow creativity to flourish while simultaneously killing off large swathes of careers and likely reducing game dev team sizes by a large number. I think indie games are the new AAA when generative AI takes over.

SFX recordists and Folley artists will probably be the first to go in this battle. You need the sound fx? why pay someone when you can type in “rock hitting metal surface” and get the sound you’re looking for? I think it will be a much greater length of time before full compositions carry emotions well enough that they will be a good choice for something like a movie score. I think things like non-AAA video game music is replaced by AI scores in a short timeframe. Adoption of this tech in the film/commercial industry would be huge and very displacing for many composers.

Kinda strange to think about… this seems to me to break the fundamentals of religious beliefs. If when I die, I go to heaven or hell…. What about my clone? If I murdered someone and end up going to hell, does my clone face the same judgement?

I asked ChatGPT for a game idea the other day. It replied with several ideas and I iterated through “I like the genre, can we change the theme”. It eventually landed on something I liked “awesome. Can you give me a color scheme in hex values”. Returned the list. “Awesome. What materials should I use?” Returned a list. “Can you explain how I might start on building the mechanics”. It gave a decent idea, but all in all I knew where I was going to start anyway. “What could I sell in the game?” Returned with some ideas. “What multiplayer features could I add”. Returned with ideas.
TLDR: ChatGPT did an entire weeks worth of brainstorming and game design preplanning in about 10 minutes.
