Instead of writing this you could have gotten replacement units through an RMA, but nooooo.

Because you need room correction or room treatment.
A lot less expensive and time consuming.

I see, perhaps the Sheepskin one would have been a better choice.

Or probably just our ears adjusting to the sound after daily-driving them.

If they fit, the Brainwavz pads are great too, just gotta get the variant that matches the stock pads.

That's because in 2023 Bose headphones and earphones are just mid at best.
So are the ATH M50X for that matter.

Honestly if you want good budget in-ears just get Truthear Hola for 20$ or Truthear Zero for 50$.
No need to drop 500$ on headphones if something low tier like AKG buds lasted you that long lol

Make me wonder if they are real open backs or just like the Final Audio E-Series where it doesn't give a real open feel either way.

None would really convey an open back feel, I tried finding that myself and couldn't.
Open and semi-open would also let all of the noise in.

Maybe you could try IEMs?
Neutral to bright neutral ones could be suitable for your needs. Even just Truthear Hola could be a good start.

The Zeros are power hungry compared to other IEMs, honestly I like that on my PC, I get more granular volume control.
Miller_TM t1_j6fd5rw wrote
They're surprisingly alright for mainstream earbuds.
Used a pair of these for a couple of years for gaming before I got into chi-fi stuff.

Fair enough, I feel like something like the ER2SEs would be the ones you would enjoy, very little bass compared to most IEMs.

What eartips are you using? Some do exaggerate the bass.
How did you get them so fast? It took me a month to get them shipped to my mailbox 😅

If you're into the soundstage of headphones, probably not. The imaging is good enough for competitive games.
But sometimes if you just want to isolate from noises around you it's great.
The bass with the dedicated subwoofer is way louder than the graphs would suggest, but that's a good thing, it doesn't bleed anywhere.

They do fit, however they don't go deep enough for a secure fit in my case.

Well there are better IEMs, but I don't see the benefit of going higher if it means me noticing poor mastering in songs and games.
Get Spinfit CP155 tips, the stock ones are stiff, might as well be plastic.
Miller_TM t1_itparyw wrote
Honestly most IEMs can reach ridiculous amounts of volume without any dedicated AMP, but that could introduce distortion.

I'm not about to drop 500$ USD on another pair of IEMs... That's almost 700$ CAD.
