Super Troopers 2 retroactively makes Super Troopers a lesser film because of how completely unnecessary and "phoned in" it was

I can definitely see the argument for Club Dread being worse. Club Dread was... weird and a lot of the jokes were overall weaker. But I think it is a better representation of the Broken Lizard "vibe" of... just being really frigging weird and unnecessary. Which is exemplified by 1's climax being a "funny but bog standard" action sequence as the good cops (ugh) fight the bad drug dealers. And then we just have drunken Brian Cox beating the shit out of Daniel von Bargen and having that simultaneous "ha, this is funny" and "... why is this happening? How is this happening?".

In fairness, Apollo Creed is generally not the most likeable in all the Creed films. Philanderer who couldn't stop fighting and left his wife to raise his illegitimate kid. Which is why, for as amazing as the Creed films are, I hope it does end with a solid "I lived my dream. Now I am going to retire and spend time with my family" to show that the cycle has been broken.

But yeah, bog standard "the protagonist is whoever I relate to the most" stupidity.

Yeah. OG Saw is pretty much the epitome of "a good concept with a really bad execution". The elevator pitch was amazing but the script was incredibly lacking. And the idea to emphasize the torture porn aspects of it hurt the film.

And then every single sequel took all the worst aspects and made them the core.

It is twofold

Part of it is that EVERYONE wants Windows. So obviously piracy groups are going to crack it

Whereas comparatively few people want a specific CAD tool. So piracy groups aren't incentivized to crack it.

Because if you actually read a .nfo file (that you obviously found in church on a sunday while minding your own business), most warez groups are obnoxious little shits who only care about the clout.

The other aspect is that, for stuff like Windows, Microsoft doesn't actually care about piracy. They basically throw licenses at consumers for free (hell, I am still cycling through like four different keys I got during college). Because there is so little profit in what OS Grandma buys that it doesn't matter.

Instead, they profit off keys sold to the people who sell pre-built computers (so laptops and prebuilt desktops) who just treat that as an operating cost. And, more importantly, they sell bulk licenses to actual companies. And THAT is a lot of money

And you know what encourages Reynholm Industries to buy hundreds of Windows and Office and so forth licenses? The fact that their employees are comfortable with that OS and ecosystem... possibly because they grew up with an unactivated bootleg copy.

Yeah. More and more planes are just getting rid of in-flight entertainment entirely and instead putting a cell phone/tablet tray on the seat*. Which seems the way to go for me

That said: The people most likely to be idiots are likely also the ones who expected to watch the big bang theory for an eight hour flight and now are stuck reading the safety card.

*: Which, considering how violently some folk recline, I will never use

Eh. Ribbon cables in particular are one of those things that are super easy to install, but not to remove. For a robot it is trivial. But even for a human, you just need to connect them and then close the clamshell. The reason why they suck for repairs is that you tend to need a bit of force to pry apart the two halves of the device. But too much force and you break the ribbon cable

As for repair costs? That is already noise as far as all the premium plans go and you can very much reduce effective costs by just fully replacing modules. Break the ribbon cable? The refurb department can do the repairs back at the nearest factory.

Once you know what you are doing, it is pretty easy to apply just enough force to break the friction of the glue you pried through or deal with the clips without tearing the cable. But just look at all the people who lose their god damned minds over taking apart a nintendo joycon.

Hell, I've been doing my own repairs/mods for literally decades. And my butthole still puckers ever so slightly when dealing with stuff like this. Same as seating ram on a mobo.

Idea? Definitely. Law? It depends

In terms of "normal" electronics? Use increasingly thin ribbon cables and everything you can to make that super scary to open up and likely to break something in the process.

And for the higher end stuff, you are already working with an SoC for all intents and purposes where "just replace a capacitor" is... sort of possible for some people. But you also pull an apple and make the price and hassle for replacement parts such a mess that people are still disincentivized from working on their own gear or even going to a repair shop versus buying a warranty.

Which is more or less where we are with cars. I can replace my tires and do basic maintenance. I even have an old code reader somewhere in a box. But once I get that code (assuming the interface hasn't changed) and look it up online... I am not going to know anything about getting into that engine or transmission. And I have had enough bad experiences with mechanics that I am not convinced they know either. And when they DO get in there? Oh, a board is fried and I need these new gears and everything is so tightly coupled that it isn't worth keeping a bunch of 5A251ZZ4 sprockets on hand.

So I more or less end up in the same state of "buy a new X".
