Antarctica is also not underwater like majority of earth, where I'm guessing majority of meteorites end up.

I had a chance to eat there in mid 2000s, it was a very unique experience. Chatted with the sons and the old man was napping in the entryway, you had to step over his outstretched legs to enter and exit.
I had pancakes with Mac-n-Cheese and bacon and maple syrup and other accoutrements.

I’m kind of afraid this is going to end with him committing suicide. I really doubt he’s ready for what he faces. He’s going to get probably 20 years in US and do 12-15, then get charged in some other country and extradited and do another 8-10. Then maybe even get passed on to another country after that. I wouldn’t be surprised if he spends 25-35 years in jail. I’m not sure he gets it yet but when he does it’s going to hit like a ton of bricks.

There's internships in this, my wife did one for an oral history project gathering stories from survivors of India/Pakistan Partition.

Links degrading is a huge problem, try clicking on any 'source' from 2008 or earlier, most likely the link is broken now.

One thing I recall reading is that most natives died without ever encountering a European. By the time colonization was really going something like 90-95% of indigeneous people had already perished due to diseases being passed through trade networks. French fur trappers reported finding loads of abandoned 'ghost' villages or a very few ragged survivors. If native people had immunity to diseases it's possible colonization would never have occurred, at least not to the extent it did.

I ate there in 2008 or 2009, Kenny was asleep in the entry way and you had to quietly step over his outstretched legs to not disturb him. His son was super nice. The dish I had was pancakes with bacon and mac-n-cheese it was super delicious and perfect for my hangover.

I knew a meteor hunter dude in Tahoe, he went out to big empty playas in Great Basin. He said you just cruise around looking for black rocks that don’t belong.
