Newer machines may have the bread hooks made from other materials or coated with something. I had an old inhearited kenwood chef from the 70s that had an aluminum hook.
Aluminum is pale and matte compared to stainless steel, and it can have a chemical reaction and come out of the dishwasher weirdly discoloured.

Things made from aluminium, most commonly used for baking tins, bread hooks and garlic presses.

I would say that the definition of "high quality" when it comes to clothes is just that - how long they last. But does a high price equal high quality? No

Reply to Electric kettle, with no plastic ? by MatineHen
I like my Anderson, the affordable house brand from NetOnNet sold in Norway and Sweden.
No electric kettel will be for life, but this one feels sturdy and is all metal inside and has temp control.

From life experience I know this kind of house brands is usually the same for many different chain stores, so you may find the same product with a different name somewhere else in the world.
