Thanks for sharing your insights. I suspect a lot of teachers are seeing the same things you're seeing at the moment.
But I think the real test will come when ChatGPT gets more sophisticated and harder to detect. The current versions are plenty flawed. But they're not going to stay that way. They're going to keep improving. I'm sure there's a better way to manage its use in education. I'm just not sure what it is and I hope teachers are considering this as they move forward.

Even if teachers succeed in banning it, I doubt that ban will be enforceable on a large scale. This emerging generation is too tech savvy and too connected. If one person finds a way around it, then everyone will know within a few days at most.
I think it just makes more sense to re-evaluate how we actually teach kids certain concepts. We also need to ask questions like...is making them write essays really the most effective way to learn a concept?

I think the anime industry was already primed to take advantage of this technology. Since its inception, anime has always tried to do more with less. It had to because for so long, the industry struggled to keep production costs low. Now, here's a new technology that will help accelerate that effort. It's a bit unrefined now. But after a few years of development and investment, I have a feeling the anime industry and the animation industry as a whole will be in a very different place.

I just love seeing Brendan Fraser's career surge for all the right reasons. I remember in the late 90s and early 2000s when he was seen as just another pretty face who could do stunts. That's all he was to the industry. But these past few years have shown that he can be so much more. 😊

That's ambitious. And it may take a while to get to that number. But if interest in AI continues to grow, I say it's achievable. 😊

I think ChatGPT has definitely raised the profile of this sub. And as more and more AI products become available, there will be greater interest in the potential/dangers. I won't be too surprised if this sub has around 400k by the end of the year.

Me too! It's oddly comforting that some of the weird friends I had in college were somewhat vindicated. 😊

So...is anyone going to test this out? If so, I think a lot of people in this sub would be very interested in the results.

As someone who has many horrible memories of high school and comic homework, I fully support this kind of AI. 😊

Vampire jokes aside, this is a remarkable development and a necessary one. Blood shortages cost lives every year. Having something we can mass produce will save a lot of people. That's worth any number of vampire jokes.

Such a beautiful moment. I was at New York Comic Con this past weekend. But sadly, I couldn't be there for this. I wish I had been. Back to the Future is still one of the best movie trilogies of all time. And seeing Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox together is a nice reminder of just how special that movie was and how special these two men truly are. 😊

Reply to Story Compass of AI in Pop Culture by roomjosh
Not a bad compass. But I think AM from "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream" needs to be on the far end of the evil/cautionary axis. AM is so much worse than the Terminator, the machines from the Matrix, or even Ultron. Those AIs only sought to kill humanity. AM wants to torture them for eternity.
