Any job that is done mainly digitally will be targeted in the next 3 years. Digital work leaves behind a trail of digital assets for a NN to train on. The trades on the other hand don’t leave behind a digital trail and will be much harder to automate. Think carpenters, plumbers, electricians

I really don’t think the long term memory will be too much of an issue. I believe you will get a branched version of the model catered to a specific user that’s learning all the time, similar to how instuctGPT works but new data is stored and embedded many times per day

I have been (possibly naively) assuming that AGI will be the breakthrough that allows us to become a type 1 civilization. At this point, the issue of warming or cooling the planet will be trivial, along with many other environmental issues Earth faces.
My timeline for when we have an intelligence that makes such problems trivial is around 2035. I think climate change issues will have caused considerable damage at this point, but nowhere near enough damage to be seen as a mass extinction event.
The average person today isn’t plagued with constantly imaging an intelligence that surpasses even genius level human beings. There’s things we humans know how to do, there’s things we don’t know how to do, and then there’s things we don’t even know how to know we can’t do.

By 2026 you’ll be able to generate a simulation of any environment, real or fiction, and populate it with NPCs of any kind. You want human NPCs? Sure, they’ll all be instantiated with a next-gen language model and can carry a unique conversation indefinitely. You want never before seen alien species? Why not, go ahead and breed & evolve them while you’re at it.
