The point was to bring suspicion to headlines that are being sensationalist. Heck they headlines were Marijuana Would Destroy Colorado just 10 years ago. I didn't read the article. Maybe it was more nuanced and intelligent than the headlines. But I doubt it.

“The wheel changed the world. The steam engine could destroy it.”
I’m not saying that AI won’t. I’m just saying we’ve had these headlines before.

If man had stayed as hunters and never developed agriculture very few of the current world problems including mass extinction would be occurring. Just not certain on what side you are on.

Elon Musk had a good point. He said people will shift to electronic cars en masse when electric cars are the better car.
This is how I see it. Protestant Reformation didn't happen until the printing press allowed common people to have a copy of the bible. Democracy didn't happen until the Industrial Revolution (steam engine, light bulb, telegram, machines etc) created a merchant class to rival the nobility.
People won't give up meat until there is lab gown meat to buy in the supermarket for a cheaper price. En masse.
