I’m sorry, I discounted that because I didn’t think beyond the DM. Like, if you DM them, you are still on reddit… but following up via email or phone as a consequence of the DM didn’t occur to me until you responded

I mean, I wouldn’t just take a reddit comment’s word for it, even if they did say they were a geologist. There’s value in meeting someone face to face or having an offline conversation with them. Reddit is a fine place to start, but that’s about it

I pay exactly what I owe. Not only do I think that’s fair, I think it’s too much.
Give me two examples of a tax loophole that is abused by high earning people.

Why did they put in those “loopholes” if not for people to use them? And your not being a tax expert sure didn’t slow your roll when advocating for raising my taxes. I just want to know how much of my money is enough for you

If I made one million dollars per year, how much should I pay in taxes and to which government (federal, state, local)?

You guys should quantify exactly what my fair share is. If we tallied up everything people want to pay for by taxing the rich, it’s many times more money than we actually have. I’ve paid a shitload of money in taxes and these problems still exist. There’s no reason to believe that if I pay more, there will be fewer of these issues

Mostly the same, except instead of donating to a Women’s shelter, we sponsor a family every year for Christmas.

It’s not the responsibility of one marginally successful person to bear the burden of a child of someone else to avoid 1 day of homelessness. Come on, now

Alas, in the APB thread
Where people feign fear and dread
Because a woman is missing
And my tone was dismissing
But in fact she’s likely already dead

Real life can be incredibly dull compared to bed-wetting nightmares. It may be hard to empathize with real problems that real people have and their real fears when you’ve been desensitized by horrific nightmares

Ok, so can we get a clear assertion by someone who knows what they are talking about?
What needs to be done?
When does it need to be done by?
What happens if we don’t do it?
I want someone on record about this because I’m 39 years old and I’ve been watching the goalposts move since the mid 90s. We’re at 50 billion tons of carbon emissions per year, now, and that’s on an upward trajectory. We had a brief reprieve in 2020 due to covid and the fallout of that is leading us into a worldwide recession, but we’re supposed to bend this curve down to zero in 20 years or something?
Can someone please just provide some answers in a straightforward way?
