I know some places have had good luck with covering metro canals with solar panel roofs. Hot places can also benefit from reduced evaporation in reservoirs.

It would only matter if the panels were placed over shallows, reefs, and other places with high densities of living things. But this technique still makes no sense unless we somehow ran out of land space. Which just isn't happening.

I actually have a subscription for monthly deliveries of that baby food because we use it here at the animal rescue. And I have been chuckling about BanBlabBlub for years. It's a bit of a running joke around here, and I love seeing it in the wild.

You're probably right that this is the simplest way for you to run the plug. My recommendation is that before you touch the door with the drill, you make the hole in some scrap wood. To be absolutely sure your plug head will fit through and your hole plugs will fit.
If you want to try at a more elegant wall solution, this old reddit thread has ideas: https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/hsv7zr/internal_wall_pass_through_for_coax/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Yeah. I think it usually takes a 1.25" hole to pass 3-prong US cord plugs through.

Reply to comment by tarkinlarson in eli5: how long would power stay on if the power company abandoned their post? by larsattacks94
The turbines in a hydroelectric dam station would probably go for a long time, but the connection to the actual grid may not be so robust. Wires. Transformers. Lubes. Coolants. Connectors. There's always something that can break or run out. The systems are usually made to make this work simple, but there still has to be someone who checks the readings, and replace stuff or some critical bit will stop the electricity from working correctly.

It probably depends a bit on the kind of plant. Like if it's coal, it has to keep being moved into the furnaces. Not necessarily daily, but they get deliveries and refill the setup from storage pretty regularly. Something without fuel like wind, hydro, or solar would probably go until some piece of maintenance isn't performed.

Reply to comment by -Susil in How to fix door popping when walking near it? by -Susil
The nails are loose enough to slide slightly out and back in when the floor flexes and that flexes the door frame. Placing a few 3" screws would probably fix it since they can't slide in and out like that.
