Reply to We need more annotated books in the world by mankieblanx
I disagree violently. Writing in books ruins them completely. If you must keep track of anything use a notepad.
Imagine buying a used Blu Ray and a heart emoji appeared on screen every now and again. You wouldn't feel "connected" with the previous owner in any way by seeing what their favorite scenes were. You'd just want to slap them for, objectively, ruining the movie completely and utterly.

Reply to comment by BobDope in Thoughts on Colleen Hoover? by beeznerys
Someone on TikTok bought a huge pile of books and set them on their living room floor to show off how well-read they are. There were tons of duplicates scattered around and a ton of Colleen Hoover books. There was Cursed Child but nothing else in that series. It was obvious they just went out and bought them en masse without thought for the video.
I just remember one of the funniest comments being "all those books and not a single book."

Any time Tom Felton switches to an American accent in Beyond the Wand, especially when he starts morphing into it in the middle of a sentence.

I'm okay with advertising that fact because, hey, it does draw sales. I just hate it when it's literally part of the cover art so it can't even be peeled away.

Reply to How do you read non fiction books? by Retep_Rup
I'm reading Lies My Teacher Told Me (history/commentary) and it's a slog if you try to read it continuously like fiction. I'm enjoying it much better and retain a lot more if I only read 2-10 pages per day.
Not slow reading or anything, just reading at a normal pace but limiting the page numbers. Gives me a chance to ponder the people involved throughout the day without being overloaded.

Reply to Without access to a library, what is the best and most affordable way to read a lot? by sadlegbeard
If you don't have an e-reader, I just logged into Libby for the first time. You can rent e-books and audio-books from your local library for free.

Reply to Buy books or borrow from library? by ladyluckyy777
I buy secondhand whenever I can. I probably should check out the library more, but most of the time when I need to borrow a book a friend/relative already offers to borrow theirs to me.

Reply to Does this mean audiobooks aren't for me? by IAmNotAFetish
I've mostly given up on audiobooks for fiction and some nonfiction. Only thing I've found to enjoy with them so far are memoirs read by the author.
