AWD with snow tires is plenty safe don't worry. I go there every week with the same setup, there's a dedicated plow crew at the base of the highway before it climbs, this highway is well-kept even in the winter.

Get to the parking lot by 8:30, you can't buy tickets ahead of time but I've never seen them sell out.

From the viewpoint with my camera They have signs up around the viewpoint saying no drones so I didn't take mine out although I think thats just while at the viewpoint. The surrounding area in the vicinity of the highway looks legal to me, I just didn't bother cause it looked good with the regular camera and I was doing a lot of lens swapping.

I thought about doing a time Lapse but there wasn't a lot of cloud motion or other interest besides the changing light
