Reply to Mystery Switches Arrived by NikoLeven
Honestly, the best pulls I have seen. Even the silk drys by themselves are better than what most people got.

If they have clearly defined minimums/restrictions when it comes to cable length why did you think a custom order outside those restrictions could be done? Also when it comes to having to ask three times about a custom order they probably prioritized doing what they could and canceling your order and that is why the second less important issue was not addressed until everything else was resolved. Cablemod's keyboard cables are still a growing part of their company and it shows in their limits compared to smaller/independent vendors, so them going against their standards is not something they advertise. You are better off going on r/mechmarket and browsing the various posts by small cable makers, they will probably be able to work something out with you as unlike cablemod they don't have tons of orders that need to be processed fast and efficiently on a daily basis.

Not sure about the resale value they could have since they are not common, but I don't see them selling for much. The only basic Kailh switch that people really buy is the Kailh black and that is mainly for parts since the stem can be used to make popular frankenswitches. Selling them for the 15+shipping you paid, is probably your best bet since for around 20 dollars there are better tactiles like the Gateron G pro browns, so it is hard for others to justify buying an older worse switch for more.

I might be wrong but the black housing variants of the standard blue/red/brown switches by Kailh are the ones that try their best to replicate the sound and feel of cherry switches. I would say they probably sound better than the clear housing versions that are now commonplace, but nothing special. A light tactile that would probably greatly benefit from being lubed, a switch that is a tier above the cheaper browns on prebuilts.

Wow haven't seen the full black housing kailh switches in a long time. Novelkeys must have bought some really old stock if they are shipping those versions for years now you mainly just find the clear top/white bottom version.

If I am not wrong they are TTC silent Browns, Kailh Speed Pinks, and I want to say cherry mx browns but I have seen other people say the full black ones are also TTC browns just with a different top housing. Yeah, not a great haul don't know why Novelkeys decided to go for so many basic switch options.

Reply to Novel Keys mystery switches. Did I lose out? Not familiar with TTC switches. by BaconLover57
TTC is a decent manufacturer with some good switches, but from the looks of it you got unlucky and ended up with their versions of the basic clicky blue and linear red switches. Haven’t tried them myself but from what I have seen on post relating to them their basic offerings are maybe on par with basic kailh switches.

Reply to Drop mystery box experiences by beakersoft360
Each box seems to come with 2 keycap sets one DCX/GMK/MT3 and one Skylight set, then one desk mat and a set of switches (min of 70 max of 110). Overall if you set your expectations low and happen to like most of the higher-priced keycap sets Drop has then seems like a good value.

If the price is in USD then everything is higly overpriced because 260 for all that is ridiculous even considering the mods/ lubing of the switches. Akko switches are 45 for 10 USD so around 23 cents per switch and whatever place this is charges around 1.20 per lubed switch.

Reply to Beware of 'gmkkeycaps.com' – They're Selling Clone GMK Keycaps! by Degrees7117
From the descriptions they have under each set, it is clear that they are trying to be deceptive to a high degree. The ethics of clones aside if you go on aliexpress some sellers go out of their way to state that you are buying clones, while whoever is behind this store is trying their best to make their site seem reliable. They have a fake backstory and hired a copywriter to create fake descriptions of each set for seo purposes, this is super shady behavior. Even the "gmk" in their name is deceptive as it is an acronym for "gamer made keycaps", yet they only refer to themselves with that name once on their about page, not on the front page or description of their keycaps.
