Go to the Ironbound if you want good food. Casa D'Paco and Vivo Tapas for Spanish cuisine, Boi Na Brasa and Brasilia for Brazilian BBQ are some of my first recommendations, but there are tons of other restaurants in the neighborhood. The Newark Museum of Art is very underrated. It's a great way to spend the day when the weather is bad. Also, if you're arriving in April, you might just arrive at the perfect time to see the cherry blossoms in Branch Brook Park, which has the largest collection of cherry blossom trees in the US. There's also a Japanese cultural festival and music on April 16.

I would have preferred a more traditional statue myself. But calling it "an example of a receding civilization" is the kind of hyperbole that makes people not take what you say seriously. There's always been mediocre art in all periods.

Rahway is a cute town! It's gotten much better from when I was a kid, when downtown was kinda dead. Lots of new restaurants and residential development around the train station, easy commute to Newark/NY. Good mix of apartments and detached housing, and pretty diverse. The one significant issue is the constant flooding along the Rahway River. Avoid the flood zone, especially if you're looking to buy a house; you'll pay an arm and a leg for flood insurance.

Goddamn, what a shitshow. The Landmarks Commission and the lawyer are all so unprofessional. I'm for the tower, and the lawyer is doing such a terrible job at presenting his case and holding his temper. If I were the developer, I'd fire him immediately after this meeting.
